Bench of the Week (26)

This bench is located on the south side of the North Saskatchewan river that runs through Edmonton, Alberta. It provides a lovely view of the downtown skyline.

On the far right of the building skyline can be seen the peaked roof of the Macdonald Hotel. The Macdonald was built in 1912 by the Grand Trunk Railway, and is now owned by the Fairmont Hotel chain.

RuneE of Visual Norway began an informal meme of Bench of the Week. Please visit him to find other participants.

That really is a striking view! I wonder if the people within the buildings ever look across at the bench!

Whenever I see a bench I think about sitting there with a laptop and cigar writing. And I could get some writing done there.

I will try and snap a photo of a Montenegro bench this week.

Beautiful view from that bench! I like the strength of it.

I love the bench, and the buildings are nice, but I would much rather be looking at mountains or wildflowers! I agree that the people in the buildings should take time out daily to admire the beautiful wood of the bench.

The bench looks so cool. The stone parts match the shape of the skyscrapers.

I would have now problem sitting on that bench and enjoying that skyline. Both look like they were built to last.

BTW Reflections from "Canada" tomorrow...

I think I would probably prefer the view from the opposite direction.

Edmonton's river valley and skyline are quite inspiring. Thanks for the view.

I love you bench of the week posts. I now look at benches in my travels around. If I remember my camera, I will join you.

Ok, I just spent almost an hour reading all the posts I've missed lately. As usual it's really relaxing to come here for a visit.

I noticed your picture for the new Diana Gabaldon book. My wife is a big fan and just started reading it. Given that part of my ancestry is Faser-McKenzie and I'm about as peaceful as Jamie toward my enemies, it gives my wife a good chuckle comparing traits.

I could sleep on that bench.

A great place to sit, and watch the world go bye.

Phoenix, it may be quite impossible to view the bench, although I suspect it is located near the Muttart Conservatory which has over 700 different plants on display.

David, this bench would allow me to be creative as well.

I look forward to your photo.

PERBS, yes, it is nice and sturdy.

Teresa, I will consider your hint for next week.

Ronda, the objects certainly compliment each other.

RuneE, my sentiments, too.

I have a reflection photo lurking in my collection.

Gerald, there is a park behind this bench.

Leah, the skyline has changed somewhat since I was last there.

Debra, I never paid much attention to benches either unless they had interesting iron scroll work or had carvings on them.

J.L., then perhaps you are equal in hot-headedness, stubborn, with a well defined sense of justice.

Charles, you could sleep anywhere, I'm sure.

John, the photographer did very well.

Barbara Martin said...

Gallow, I can agree with you on that.

What an awesome view!
I love my country living but that looks like a wonderful place to sit and enjoy city life!
Nice wood as well.

I like this bench, the legs repeat the building shapes in the skyline.
