Mihai from
Dark Wolf’s Fantasy Reviews has nominated me for this award. He must like crossing the pond to visit the virtual vistas presented herein.
Part of accepting the award is to point out 5 things I am obsessed with and cannot live without. There are many other bloggers whom I would like to know the five things they are obsessed with, but can only choose 5. Drat!
My 5 obsessions are:
1. The current dark fantasy stories I have been writing and compiling backstory on for the past several years.
2. Books in different genres, without which I would be hard pressed to be inspired to write intriguing bits that fit.
3. Organic coffee from the
Birds and Beans store in Toronto. I live for my freshly brewed coffee in the morning and evenings.
4. Environment, preferably the Canadian Rocky Mountains, which my frequent posts attest to.
5. Heineken Beer, sometimes used to attract aliens
here or spies
hereMy 5 nominated bloggers are:
1. Shauna Roberts of
For Love of Words ;
2. David Cranmer of
The Education of a Pulp Writer ;
3. Reya Mellicker of
The Gold Puppy ;
4. Gabriele of
Lost Fort;
5.
Barrie Summy, writer of teen books.
For those who do not wish to pass on the award, I understand; however, in the interest of good clean fun, please participate by providing your list of obsessions.

Thank you for the award! I'll post my answers in my next post. And thanks for a look at your obsessions. The only one I would have guessed was number 4, the environment.
coffee and beer OH YEAH! :)
Barbara, Thank-you so much for my first on-line award. And btw what great responses you have received from "A Stash of Goods." Super congrats!
My five obsessions are:
1. The lady I refer to as my charmer.
2. My writing.
3. Books.
4. Jazz.
5. Coffee in the morning.
Congratulations on the award, Barbara. It's well-deserved.
Thank you, Barbara.
I played. :)
I am so honored! Thank you.
This is a crazy week - I've been the recipient of three blog awards. I feel like Kate Winslet at the Golden Globe awards - overwhelmed and honored ... and humbled!
Wow!!
Shauna, I love the different types of posts you do, including the historical ones.
Gary, I did remember your posts about your love of beer and coffee!
When you're in Toronto drive out to 2413 Lake Shore Blvd W. and try the organic coffee. You can buy a couple of half-pounders to take home with you.
David, obsessions are relative: the ones you show others and the ones you hide.
I really like your varied posts from crime noir to westerns to what jazz you listen to. Come to Toronto to the Birds and Beans coffee shop on Saturday afternoons to listen to the best jazz in Mimico (Toronto).
Kudos to you Barbara! I can smell the coffee.
Hi, Barbara: Neat award! Oh, the dark writing is an obsession of mine, too! D
Teresa, thank you.
Reya, more people should read your blog to get your unique perspective on life.
Debra, organic coffee from the rainforests has a wonderful aroma and flavour.
congrats on the award. And the obsessions, all worthy ones. Except maybe that coffee thing.
Charles, I'm not supposed to be drinking coffee (doctor's orders), so I regulate it to a half mug each in the morning and evening. The craving makes it obsessive.
Congrats & well deserved, Barbara!!
Aloha-
you can't go wrong with beer, coffee, and books. :) grats
I share your #2 and 5!
Gabriele, your historical posts with the fantasic photos are a boon for every writer needing detail for their stories.
Donnetta, dark helps to heat up the blood. Tastier that way.
Cloudia, thank you.
Josh, all the necessities one brings on a hike for rainy days.
Bindu, we're kindred spirits.
Congratulations - well deserved!
Congrats on the award, Barbara. FWIW, I share some of your obsessions though my coffee has to be decaf these days.
RuneE, thank you.
Linda, thanks. I prefer regular over decaf. My body craves the caffeine, though I suppose I could always eat some dark chocolate (which is good for us).
I LIVE for my morning coffee too, and the more caffeine the better. And I've been on the Heineken Beer Factory's tour three times, in Amsterdam. If you're ever there, go for it!
Conratulations on the award. Your blog sure is fantastic like I always say.
And I second you obsession on the Heineken Beer.
Heineken Beer, Barbara? I've never tried it - but on your recommendation I shall!
Thomas, thanks and another perfect beer lover.
Raph, Heineken Beer has a dry taste I prefer over the North American beers. The horse, who is my avatar, liked some in his bran mashes. The other German alcohol he got in his mashes was Alpenbitters: not much, just enough to aid his digestion.
Thank you so much, Barbara! I suspect I'll have to narrow my obsessions down to five!! Ha! I'll post this and link back to you on Wed. thanks again!
I'll have to try some mixed in my mashed potato too!
I've always liked Barley Wine for a pleasant taste. Wonderfully warming in winter too, especially if you've been outside sketching.
Barrie, you're well deserving.
Raph, I'm sure it will be just fine in your mashed potatoes!
Feeding barley mixed in oats to horses tends to make them high-spirited with alot of get up and go!
Congrats on the award!
If you like Heineken, you'll probably enjoy this.
