Short Story Contest for Sci-Fi Writers

The deadline to the short story contest on ChiZine has been extended to February 28, 2009. They are looking for the best 1,000 word or less story set in the world of Brent Hayward's Filaria. Top prize is publication in ChiZine at the rate of $0.25/word. Further details can be found here. There are book reviews available on Filaria for those who can glean enough information to write a quick story.

Good luck to inventive and speedy writers.

Approximately 30 years ago I submitted a short "short-story" to a "Norwegian" newspaper in connection with a SF contest. It was heavily influenced by Isaac Asimov & co.

Of course I never heard anything more.

PS Thank you for the very pleasant comment!

David, I've come up with an idea for this and been typing my fingers to the bone.

Cloudia, some lucky writer will get the prize.

RuneE, that's one of the irksome things about contests. If an entrant doesn't make the cut for the prizes nothing is said about their entry. I think it would be a good idea if someone organizing a contest took a little effort afterwards to give some feedback on the entries. Though I understand when there are hundreds of entries that might make more work than would be considered reasonable.
