For years in the equestrian sports, riding dressage has a certain elegance to it. Horse and rider moving effortlessly through their paces.
Europe came up with slightly different demonstrations of dressage executed in pairs; and the Spanish Riding School in Vienna had their horses doing quadrilles.
The following video shows a demonstration of dressage in pairs of a slightly different type.

I WANT A PONY!
I really do.
Gary, the wee guy in the video is a miniature horse, not a pony.
But if you want a pony, it could certainly help out on an acreage with pulling a cart or a lawn mower. With an added bonus of providing fertilizer for the garden.
I just realized I've only been on a horse once in my life and I had a great time. It may be time to give it another go.
Hello Barbara!
Just stopping by from Thomas's site! And glad I ran into your blog. Your pictures are great and I like the diversity of your writing! And greetings from a fellow Canadian too :)
That video made me smile.
as one born in the year of the horse, anything horsey makes me prick up my ears :O lol
David, there is an old saying that the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man; or something like that. Once the beasts get under your skin, they're there for life.
Evita, welcome and emjoy your visits here. Thank you for your kind comments.
The photos on your own site are magnificent.
Travis, have you showed this video to your sons?
Tony, then this wee cousin must have made your heart sing...
And I'm the kind of person if I like something it's full speed ahead. Horses are expensive I better stay clear.
David, if you play your cards right you can use the purchase and upkeep of a horse as a tax deduction.
Having a horse for a sport hobby is no more expensive than skiing, photography, cycling, etc. I have a horse and I don't, by any stretch of the imagination, have deep pockets. I'm not discussing racing, which is the sport of kings--and we know they have VERY deep pockets. (Although I did own thoroughbreds and breed them at one time.)
If you have only ridden once, I would suggest that you go for trail rides or take lessons before any consideration is taken into purchasing a horse.
In the sidebar under CONSERVATION AND NATURE CONNECTIONS is a link called "Behind The Bit". Stacey Kimmel-Smith has a wealth of information on her blog about horses, riding, showing, horse care, training videos--you name it, I'm sure it can be found there. The more you read about horses and their care, the more you will be able to make an informed decision about purchasing a horse.
It's not as expensive as you might think, especially if you take care of the horse yourself. This has its own rewards.
If you have any questions, drop me an email and I will be able to answer them or send you over to Stacey's place. This is especially true, David, if you are planning on writing a western story. I can fill you in on horse equipment, horse behaviour and other horse related matters.
indeedy, barbara :D
I find it strong and generous, adignified and determined. its very beautiful.
Marie, it is certainly that and more. I'm glad you liked the video.
