Stranger Than Fiction

This post is for Travis Erwin who is suffering from the heat in Amarillo, Texas. Perhaps by looking at the photos he will chill a little.

A friend in the insurance business sent these photos to me along with the accompanying note, which I did find to be stranger than fiction. They were taken at Churchill, Manitoba.

“The photographs are Norbert Rosing’s striking images of a wild polar bear playing with sled dogs in the wilds of Canada’s Hudson Bay. The photographer was certain that he was going to see the end of his huskies when the polar bear materialized “out of the blue”, as it were. The polar bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs….”

Have you seen anything that would seem to be stranger than fiction?

Great pictures. We did cool off a bit yesterday the high was only 102 as opposed to the 106 the day before.

Travis: The heat where you are is too much for me. Toronto is due for some hot weather this weekend with the humidex going up to 40. I'll be inside out of the yucky air. I don't have AC, but with the windows shut it will be nice and cool.

Debra: Glad you liked it. Dogs and bears are distantly related; and two animals I really like.

Wow...That's really cool (pardon the pun!) Thanks for stopping by my blog. Thought I'd ret'n the favor. I lived in Toronto for a year, myself. That was enough for me. Great place to visit, but too frenetic for a country girl like me!

Lana: Glad you came by. My western roots are tugging at me to return. When I arrived nearly 20 years ago life was different here; and you're right, it is frenetic. It seems the only peace and relative quiet are my walks in High Park. The thought of returning to country life is more attractive by the day.

I saw some of these once and it was amazing. They were having a good time together.

So you're from ontario eh? My wife is from the Niagara region.

Thanks for dropping by my blog.

Charles: Welcome.

I like to know what other science fiction and fantasy writers are interested in. It helps with learning the craft.

Those are great photographs, and that is a wonderful story!

If you ever get a chance, google 'pigs and tiger' and see if you can find the pictures of a tiger nursing a litter of piglets. You've never seen anything like them, and they fit right in with your photos. I believe they were taken in Thailand.

Mary, thank you for visiting. Sometimes the best messages to warm your heart are related through photographs.
